Toontown Japan

Last updated: 2/21/2020

Toontown Japan was the japanese counterpart of Toontown Online, released back in 2005/2006. The most notable thing about this version is that it featured voiceovers for the Toontorial and the playground mascots. It was sadly closed in August 2010.

I could see this being on a t-shirt.

There were some videos made on the game, but at the time of the article's creation, no files were ever uploaded to the internet after the shutdown. No installer could be found on Google or the Wayback Machine.

On June 15th, 2018, a user by the name of ponyboy837 uploaded some files extracted from the japanese .mf files to MMOCentralForums. To my knowledge, this was the first upload of any Toontown Japan files since the game's closure. Sadly, as mentioned before, the user could only restore a few files, and quite a few of them were corrupted anyways. But having these files was still better than nothing at all. However, on March 28, 2019, u/JawhnL5 uploaded all of the japanese files. We even got the german files with this, which is really awesome! You can see an example of the japanese textures to your right.

If you were interested in seeing some footage of the game, check out the aforementioned videos below.

I hope you enjoyed this brief look at this region port of Toontown Online!
